Land
Zig Zag station is a 53,280 acre cattle grazing property located 160km north west of Townsville via Herveys Range Developmental Road.
The station lies in a valley surrounded by ranges which make up the boundary. These sloping hills are extremely well grassed with Black Spear, Kangaroo grass, Seca stylo and some Spinifex, these hills are 
easily accessible by stock. The soil is mainly decomposed granite and is timbered with Ironbark, Bloodwood, Silver leaf Ironbark and Native Bauhinia.
Further down on the river banks the grasses include Black Spear, Kangaroo, Seca, Indian Couch, Verano and some Buffel Grass, the trees in this area are large Paperbarks and Morton Bay gums all along the river system.

Around the holding paddocks and homestead are improved pastures including Urachloa, Buffel, Seca, and Verano. Some of this area has been cleared to allow for weaner feed or hay.
Stock
With the good rainfall and one of the other stations becoming an agistment property, this year there is 3000 head of cattle on the Zig Zag.
House
The house is a large two storey block and timber building with 4 bedrooms, and 2 newly renovated bathrooms. Downstairs is a large open plan kitchen with a walk-in pantry and dining room. It has a large, relaxing undercover entertaining area plus outdoor BBQ area and a semi attached 2 bedroom facility adjoining the main house.

The garden is well established and equipped with pop-up irrication. The
gardens and yard backs onto a large permanent water hole along Running River. The house area also includes a divided pig sty, fenced vegetable patch, chook yard, and horse stables.
Close to the main house are a number of machinery and feed sheds plus workshop. A 4 bedroom Donga and ablution block, this worker accomodation has seperate satellite TV & power to the main house.
Water
Zig Zag has consistently good annual rain fall and has double frontage on permantely flowing Running River. There are also a number of semi permanent holes in creeks flowing into Running River. The photograph is a permanent water hole, the depth is unknown as everyone who has tried to touch the bottom runs out of breath before they get there. It is called the Pocket and only accessible by 4WD making it a perfect private swimming spot. On the property are 35 dams and 4 bores making it very well watered.
Services
The Mail service is twice-weekly from Townsville by an Australia Post Courier. There is also a 700m airstrip west of the homestead in good condition for those unexpected emergencies. The photograph is of a Royal Flying Doctor Plane from Cairns that had just landed on one such occasion.
